OK, well the photo quality is border line, but hope it is good enough for you "experts" to get an ID. Got this from an assorted peacocks tank and you can see why I just could not pass it up, although I'll be darned if I can put a name to it!

Looks like a hybrid to me.
The closest I could find that looks like that is a red shoulder.

Too much red for a red shoulder, but I think it is a hybrid too. However, I would breed these because this fish is one of the best looking peacocks I have ever seen.

Absolutely.
Where do you think say, for instance, a rubescens came from. How about a tangerine?
Let's not be to snobby about this. Hybrids are totally OK as long as they are labeled as such. Look at that fish again and tell me what would be so putrid about having a supply of those for the hobby>?
You live not too far. How many should I put you down for?

It looks like a Protomelas Taeniolatus "Red Empress" to me, if it's the dark red/blue head one you're on about. I had got rid of one of those around two months ago, but I'll see if I can find a pic to compare.

My money is on Red shoulder, or at least a cross with strong red shoulder traits. Dang nice fish though, sure would not hurt me any to have a few swimming around my tanks.

Now that is what I am talking about. The pic doesn't do it justice. the tail is mostly red and there is red mixed with the blue all the way back to the tail. I will try to get a better pic. Like most fish, posing is not a concept he seems to embrace!
