Has a bit of a deformed cleft lip. It's in a 10 gallon quarantine.
Thanks.

duanes duanes Gourami Swami Gourami Swami what do you guys think? But my knowledge says it's a pink tilapia maybe ?

You are correct in your doubts. This doesn't look like a creamsicle midas. Looks like some sort of calico tilapia. Exact species... I don't think anyone could tell you as there are so many tilapia species that all hybridize with each other. I'm not sure what sized tank you planned to keep your "creamsicle midas" in but these tilapia grow big and they grow big fast so standard 75 gallon would not suffice for long. I would think 180+.

I dunno kinda looks like a tilapia to me.The shape of it's body doesn't resemble a midas.
I agree its some kind of Tilapine, there is a variation of a muddled tilapia spot in the posterior of the dorsal.
Tilapia have been line bred for decades resulting in a variety of colors (pink, gold etc etc) and body shape (parts, like the distorted mouth/jaw) which camouflage the original look.
Looks a bit like the Tilapine morph of Oreochromis mossamciquus I had the 60s, when they were trying to line breed a more palatable version for the dinner table.
It also looks similar to another Tilapine I kept Saratherodon linnellii, which below is a natural color/ form

i had a doubt when i got it . i got it dirt cheap tho. do you think it would be a good tankmate for a endli bichir ? i actually got it because the bichir keeps on layig eggs after a water change and theres no other tank mate that could eat them and they rot . bichir is approx 7-8" and this guy is about 4" . what probable size do you think it will eventually get to?

I agree that is a tilapia of some sort. Pretty colors, I am not exactly sure of the species, I have seen Nile and mozambiques that shoe the pink coloration. Or could be another species altogether, sorry I am not more help. I would expect it to get quite large, many of the tilapine species can grow well over a foot long.

Sure, try it. It could get to 12" TL, depending on how old it is.
