ID THIS PIKE CICHLID !!!! IS THIS RARE ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It looks kinda like Crenicichla maculata soomething something. Not sure how to spell it accurately, so don't quote me on it. Its kinda like a marmorata, except its piebald, weird lookin pike. However, that pike, which is almost questionable if it is a pike, has been through quite a bit of drama. Split dorsal fin tips off the most...looks like there is some body scaring as well.

It is a Crenicichla cf. lugubris "Manchada." They are not exactly common.

I should add that these pikes look like that because in nature they often catch their prey by posing as a dead fish. They almost appear to be in a state of decay.

Thank you!! hahaha...i couldn't remember for the life of me how to spell it. They aren't that common, thats a good lookin one at that...love the white on the face. Most of the time they are more blotchy and don't look as attractive as some of the other pikes. Rapps has offered them a few times...;) Hope you got it! Take the plunge finally! ;)

Did you find that thing on the ground or something? Looks like it has been in a war zone.
