ID this pim. Pictus or blochii?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Definitely a pictus. About maxed out also. I've had one up to 6" though so you never know. One of the most common cats in the hobby.

Pictus. The less-prominently-spotted colombian variety. They grow a bit bigger too than the other one - Peruvian variety.

To answer your other question: what are tank dimensions?

I've actually it another thread up about a cat that'll fit for life in this tank. But it's a 6'x2'x2'

I have sun catfish in a similar sized tank. They would probably be ok in your tank for life, as well as lima shovelnose.

Thanks' I may pick up a blochii or ormatus when the 180 is running. Is there another cool "for life" cat I could do instead?

As these guys should not exceed ~1', I think they will work well. As for the coolness and hotness, it varies greatly because it is a matter of taste :) I suggest filtering the entire PCF Cat-eLog by size - e.g., go to blochii datasheet and click on "same", "near" or "nearer" links in the size box to see what happens. But this is just size. There are availability and price factors too.

If you are into pims, look at the catfish genus Aguarunichthys, these are muscular-looking smallish pims, rare and IMO very cool http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/genus.php?genus_id=203

Thanks! That gave me a lot to think about. I'm aiming to have the 180 up in about two to three months. So I have time to plan.
