wow that makes sense all this time i thought it was a banana tree...lol jk but anybody know the actual variety of cactus this is?
 
Reminds me of the kind of succulent dragon fruit comes from just young and unpruned.

Nope:D Its actually of a very diverse plant group called the Euphorbias, and many of these species have morphological caracterists very similar to true cacti. They are actually the ecological equivalent of cacti in the deserts of the old world, true cacti in nature are allmost exclusive to the americas. Another clue you can esily see is that if you like take a pin and sligthly pierce true your plant skin, a white latex will come out. All Euphorbias have it but its very rare in cacti. Now what specific species? Hard to tell, its one of the big desert species like Euphorbia trigona, Euphorbia ammbak, etc
