It's going to have to be reeeeeealy slowly, since you probably bought him from a fw tank.

ya it was in a freshwater tank in the store. my salt tank sg is 1.024 so i have to be really slowly to adjust the sg.

You can easily drop it down to 1.020 or even 1.018, without disturbing any bacteria. It's still SW.
