ID this shark

My coworker was kayaking off of Big Sur (south of Monterey) and this shark was tailing them for awhile. Everyone was too scared to get a good look, but you can clearly see it did not have the same problem.

I suspect it is indeed a great white.

I doubt too many people could tell just by looking at the dorsal fin.

i am 99% sure it is a basking shark based off the shape of the dorsal

Ah, interesting. I'd concur based on the fin comparison.

And drgn, given the locale and the behavior, I'm quite certain someone could in fact identify based on the fin.

I'm pretty sure as long as the story is told in the office, it'll continue to be a great white. 28 footer. And they had to fight it off with the paddles.
