Where the heart is!!!
This is not my picture (got it from the web) but it is the same type of eel I picked up a few weeks ago. The lfs I got it from labeled it "black leopard eel." Via the web, this eel has been labeled so many types of Mastecembelus that I cannot determine indeed what it is. Can any eel experts help?

it's a mastacembelus armatus,he only got leopard spots instead of the normal patron.
i have one to,the variant is called leopard eel.
nice fish bro

i got mine and it was labeled black leopard eel also..

Really?...Ok. Cool. Thanks for the info! This fish's behavior is way different from my other tire track. Though less than half its size, it is a very aggressive eater...eating frozen silver sides from the top, live minnows, blood worms, black worms, whatever! And, it eats as many as it can every time I feed. I'm not complaining tho...I want him to grow quickly! My large tire track is only an aggressive eater towards earth worms. Other than that, he skips a few meals and only eats when he feels like it. Here's an older pic of my larger tire track.

nice

Thanks all. He's probably like 20 inches+ now. He was about the size of my black leopard, maybe a little smaller when I first got him. He's a pretty cool fish. I can hand feed him earthworms.

i had this same eel. it had the best personality of any fish ive ever had! curious, ate from the hand, really really likeable, awesome fish. but it was called a tire track when we got it, even though i dont believe it was
