I hope it’s ok I’m posting this here but I hoping for some varied answers.

Ok....so I got my 8 wild caught “Rio Nanay” angels and they are doing amazing!!! Couldn’t be happier!! However......as they are growing like weeds it is apparent there are 2 types of angels in this batch. 4 of each. I know the term “Rio Nanay” angel brings up sooooo many types of angels under that umbrella name and there is no consistent Rio Nanay in the trade.

Long ramble short, please see the pictures below. The first 2 pictures are of what I personally think of when I think of a Rio Nanay Angel. I have 4. See the last 2 pictures of the other type I have purchased at the same time. (I purchased this group online). I have 4 of these as well. Going off the sellers info they are rios as well, I believe they are all indeed wilds as this vender is very reputable but they are obviously another wild caught variant.....but which one if anyone was going to take a stab at it!?

IMO they are all Peruvian scalare. Wild fish are a mess in terms of labeling. Exporters buy their fish from fishermen and sometimes the info on their catch location is wrong/mislabeled. It’s entirely plausible they’re not all from Nanay but got mixed with a bunch of other Peruvian fish before export.

I have purchased generic “Peruvian altums” and gotten both types.

Thanks for the quick reply!
That’s pretty much I figured too but was curious as to what others would chime in with to see if there was a possible ID.
