My neighbor purchased this fish at Petsmart. It was labeled as a "Midas". Any thoughts on what it actually is? It is around 3 inches long.

It's a midas/red devil that didn't color yet. They are always this brownish color as juvies.

Your neighbors tank is going to go nuclear in a minute. Very nice Rd/Midas!

That tank will be crazy overstocked and aggressive in a couple of months.

How is the rd/midas nice already? It's just a 3" juv with no color yet...hopefully it will look nice when it's larger.

You have no idea how nuclear, you should see all the fish in that 75 gallon, it is incredible.

Here is the debate, I say it is going to turn orange, neighbor says barred, what do you think?

orange.

Its gonna turn all kinds of colors but end up orange. While all this happens it will no doubt uproot all of the plants like toys, will own the frontosa, and with any luck, drops the hammer on that blood parrot.......

Yeah I agree that Midas is so going to "own" the other fish (the ones I can see) in the pics at a later date. But it might be good if we could judge the fish from some slightly better pics when it grows a bit more too.

I agree, pics are bad, we used my 11 year olds camera, not good. Look at the bottom of the 2nd picture, there is a blurry shot of another type of fish, yikes.

He is planning on getting a very large tank, possibly larger than 200 gallons, sooner hopefully rather than later...
