Hey guys I've searched though the stickies and more but cant put my finger on the specific type. The rounded over forehead is whats screwing me around. Ive read how if TSN are stunted they can get this but i don't believe it was stunted and I'm not sure that info is accurate. He has grown a foot in 2 months. Thanks for your input.

This is a rather common genetic mutation in these fish called a "duck-bill" deformity. Most/all only occur in farmed fish as opposed to wild caught. The degree of the deformation varies. This is on the strong end.

Probably fasciatum IMHO: 90-95+% of the TSNs we get in the trade appear to be fasciatum. Once he hits 2', it will be easier to ID.

Thanks for the info guys. I knew it wasn't right. I wonder if the deformity will cause any issues down the road?

Deformity wont cause any issues down the road, ive owned atleast a dozen mutant tsn over the years and currently have one at 24" that resembles yours, the skull will continue to grow and change with the fish as it grows. Ive had a couple tsn with missing gill plates, camel joe face like ur tsn haha, typical duckbills, and some crazy mohawk type skull formations. I find it quite amazing these mutants survive, i dont mind keeping them but its def not right lol...

Thanks wednesday. If i remember correctly you have quite a few TSN? I like this guy even with the Deformity. Quite a funny and interactive fish.
