so i was thinking, why not make a thread to help those who are new to cichla ID their cichla.
i know theres an ID thread that shows various cichla species.
but i think it may still be hard for new guys to ID from there.
this is how it goes,
i post a pic of cichla and the next person tries to ID it and has to say why he thinks it is what he says it is.
then the person to get it right posts a pic of another cichla and so on....
hopefully this help new guys to know what to look out for when trying to ID cichla.

heres one of my pics....lets try to let the newer guys try first.
remember, state why you think it is what it is.like body shape etc.

Tem's....straight line from tail to gill plate, shorter head from mono's, ocell's and orino's. is my guess.

correct.
as for shorter, what do you mean?
ive found tems heads to be longer than monos/occells.
just not as sharp.

Looks shorter then these.:D

looks more rounded,but not shorter.
mono/ocell because of the pattern and head shape.
mono/ocells have the tapering type of head shape quite different from tems and orinos.
