So many ID threads have been posted here.
I will post some pics of each gar sp. and a few of some mislabeld fish (Hujetas, needle noses and Pike Characins).
First: Tropical Gar/Atractosteus tropicus. Max. size: 125cm.

yep...that's most def. our tropical. Not sure where you found that old pic, but in the future, please get permission from Jordan or atleast give credit to him...and your max size is WAY off....I realize you people are trying to help the forum and all, but its best to not start these types of threads, as they usually arent correct in info.

If one cant provide their own photo's, then they more than likely cant provide the correct info (meaning they probably have no first hand experience).

I can even id the L. Osseus under the Peacock bass!

I honestly doubt we will see too many T-Gar ID threads...us who have them usually know it!

It's no big deal re-posting my pic, but you should realize that every photo does belong to someone.

although the intent is good, there is really no point reinventing the wheel here, especially when the originals are more comprehensive and accurate. there are already a couple gar ID keys which are researched and accurate that you can check out:
