Have any of you ever seen a sunfish that is solid white with a yellow dot in front of the tail fin? We had seen these in a creek just up the road from our place.

Nope. It's probably not a sunfish and may not even be native.
Are you sure it's FW too? Do you know if the creek eventually connects to a brackish or saltwater source?

OH I wish I had pics....we found these while we were fishing that little creek in the same 'era' that we had the bass....I had just NEVER seen any like that before or since then. I believe this little creek is one of those that gets picked up and eventually ends up in the Choctawhatchee.
I can be certain which family it belongs to:(.and my be indegineous(sp) to that little body of water....but I thought I'd run it by you all here just incase some of you had encountered one before.

I guess collecting is out of the question? Do you even think that species is still there? It would have been nice to have seen one and tell you what it was.

Mayan cichlids maybe and you just didn't see 'em super well?

They have a spot near the base of their tail and they can look white if they're not colored up.
