I got this guy about a year ago and the store claimed he was a blue acara. I thought he kind of looked like a blue acara, but he hasn't grown even a centimeter since I got him. He's right under 2" long. Is he just a stunted acara, or is he some sort of dwarf cichlid?

He's usually a lot darker colored, but the flash washed him out.

Yup, Laetacara dorsigera or L. curviceps ... which are dwarf acaras. If the red on the dorsal fin edging goes all the way to the tip or turns oranage near the tip, it's a dorisgera. If it turns white towards the tip of the dorsal, it's a curviceps. Can't quite tell by the pics.
