I just said Synspilum because I had a small one and this fish looks exactly like the one I had, hmm maybe they mislabeled the fish I got.

No problem. I wasn't saying you were wrong. It turns out that I was though. It just doesn't look like mine or any that I have seen. I'm still learning about Viejas so I'm not that accurate at guessing when they are still young. They look a lot alike as juveniles.
 
IMO looks nothing like heterospilus. Looks like synspila but the color is all wrong. My guess would be it's a blackbelt and just not showing the vertical black belt at the time of the pic.
