I know this will be difficult because I don't have a picture, but a fish was presumably dumped in our river.

It was about two feet long and had a long, slender body and head similar to a snakehead, with a long dorsal fin leading down to his caudal fin, and a rounded head with the mouth lower on the body.

However, his coloration looked like an orange and black koi. No particular pattern, just patches of black over a dark orange body. No whiskers or barbels and when my boss lifted him out of the water he grunted.

Unfortunately he got out of my boss's grip and we couldn't get a hold of him again for a picture, but he was definitely not a koi. Or at least not a normal koi. Any ideas of what it could be?
