Idea for 40 gallon breeder

I want fish that swim around everywhere mayve tiger barbs?
But also want fish to breed like mayve convicts or mbuna?

Any ideas what the stock could be im clueless atm

Add more rocks and stock it with ps. Saulosi. They are a smaller mbuna and work great in a 36" tank. The males and females look different, so you get blue bars and solid yellow. Maybe 3m/9f.

Cons would be cool just be aware you need some good sight breaks if you plan on stocking any tank mates with a breeding pair in a tank that small. Stick with something like a pleco. Also be wary of the amount of beppies... You will need a fry disposal unit haha. (The pleco will gobble eggs at least.)

Also a community of livebearers would do good in a heavily planted 40b. Larger swordtails would be cool.

I had p saulosi in mine, lots of movement and lots of breeding.

I recently setup a 40b with a pair of apistogramma cacatuoides super reds. I got some plants going too. New to planted tanks but it's been a fun learning experience so far.
