within a month or 2 im gona have to put my polys in a bigger tank, preferably one they can live in for a good number of years - so in a sense it's their "final home" even though it wolnt really be, its just till i can easily accommodate something much larger. personally i want them in a 125 but i dont think thats gona happen anytime soon.

iv got 2 senegals and 1 delh. i know 1 sen and the delh can live in a 40 breeder by themselves but to keep the other one iv been told to get a 75 gallon. well what about this, what if -since floor space is the issue - i get a 40 breeder and on one side (or maybe more) i get a giant piece of flat slat and create a second level to the tank? basically a stone cave except that is so wide and long that it forms a plateau of sorts adding to the perceptive amount of available room. i can even create a third level as well as multi levels in different parts of the tank. they'd be like cliff dwelling cave fish. what do yall think?

Cleaning & water flow will be a problem.

Also adding the levels won't add swimming space, of which the sens generally need due to them being one of the more active species. I thought of this a few years back but thought the better of it.
Nice to know that your thinking about the actual fish though and not just thinking how nice they are to look at and watch.. Unlike some other fish keepers!

hmmm, i didnt think about those things. i guess that kills that idea, best i found out now though. thanks for the responses. it might be still possible to get a 75G but i really think the 40 would be better as far as space issues go and ill just have to find a good home for one of the sens. :( im sure though ill find some ways to get everything to work out ok here.

In my books the whole inch per fish per volume rule doesn't realy apply to bichers so much, if the tank can't easily house 2 then it can't 1. Bichers stay at the bottom most of the time but when they do swim they swim like eels so they'll just swim around each other. But if the fish doesn't have enough room to menouver then it's to small. Can you go for width (back to front) over height? as that would help matters...

Oh and day of tomorrow + 7x 1664 (and counting) doesn't help my explinations.. lol
