I want to make a overstocked self dither Cichlid community

the tank is 6x2x2

This is the stock i'm planning on having in it...

1 x Jaguar
1 x Carpintis
6 x Severum (3 x Rotkeil, 1 x Gold, 1 x Red, 1 x Green) (these are my fave fish)
1 x jack Dempsey
2 x Convict
1 x Blood Parrot
1 x Gibbi Plec
2 x Synodontis

I also had some Green Terrors growing out but they killed each other and i only have 1 small one left (1.5") and hes in bad shape so might have to lose him.

Also a baby Salvni (1") don't know wether to keep him tho as i don't really have the space for him

I also have 2x Flowerhorns but i'm going to give them away.

In my 100g i am going to keep Malawis (4 x Yellow Lab breeding group, 2x Breeding Electric Blue Haps, Livingstonii, Firefish Peacock) with a couple of centrals (Pink Convict, Blood Parrots,EBJD) (already have those and will probably look for some red jewels to go in there to) and 2x Striped Raphael Catfish (all solid colour fish)

The Ebjd is the most aggressive fish in that community and fits in perfect (he has been in there since June)

anyway back on topic...

Will the stocking on my big tank be ok? the fish are all living together as juvis and sub-adults in a grow out, i suppose its trial and error?

My 6" jaguar just owned my 8" carpintis, I saw he was looking a little rough next thing I know he looked like he got hit by a truck. So watch that combo, but I also have 3 severums, a small zonatus, a small synspillum, and a loiselli, and they all do just fine in my 180, same synspillum. Go for it just be aware that jaguars can be very aggressive out of no where

Ok thanks :) hes to little to harm anything at the mo (3" skinny baby) and the Texas is a very deep 6.5".

But i know first hand about Cichlids snapping out of nowhere so thanks for the info :)

I could put some Severums in my Malawi tank, but would prefer to overstock the big tank so the Jag can't single anything out.

I was thinking about adding a Lutino but i don't really have the space now plus i don't know if a Oscar would fit in with the stock, Severums tend to get away with a lot because they don't tend to be confrontational, and if you keep them in a hard water set up, they don't start breeding behaviour (my 6 vary in sizes from 8"- 5" and whilst fish have bred around them, these have never).

Oscars on the flip side get into disputes (in my experience, have kept 5 from fry to adult in the past), and i don't think it would last long with a Jag in a 6ft tank.

Also these is the waist factor, a adult Oscar alone produces about the amount of waist as 2 adult Jags, maybe more.

So this is the shortlist and the maybes...

1 x Jaguar
1 x Carpintis
Severums (not sure how many i can get away with)
1 x jack Dempsey
1 x Female Blood Parrot (need to seperate her from the male in my other tank)
1 x Gibbi Plec

Maybes
2 x Synodontis
2 x Pink Cons
1 x Green Terror (in bad shape, currently a fry so will have to grow it out)
1 x Salvini (currently a fry so will have to grow it out)

I have 6 Severums in total, not sure if i will need to thin these out? I could keep one of each in there then sell on my spare ones (keep 1 x Rotkeil, Green, Gold, Red)

I'm also pondering wether to keep the Jag at all

And also was wandering what Texas are like with Severums long term? they have been together since March with no problems, the texas however never liked my flowerhorns (they are gone now) and he used to pick on the JD when they were the same size but doesn't bother anymore now that hes much bigger.

I prefer Severums over Oscars tho would rather keep the more Sevs.

So how about

1 x Jaguar
1 x Carpintis
5 x Severum
1 x jack Dempsey
2 x Convict
1 x Blood Parrot
1 x Green Terror
1 x Salvini
1 x Gibbi Plec

i have 3 large severums, no one messes with them at all. I have a jag and (had) a carpintis. the sevs will chase eachother, but that is about it. I have never seen them get picked on. they are close to 6" we will see just how tough they are when my dovii gets bigger hes 3" now
