this is just a passing thought so im not really serious about it but i thought i would ask as i think it could look cool if done correctly, has anyone fitted a mirror to the rear panel on the inside or outside of the tank, i thought it could give the illusion of a larger tank and more fish
depends on this fish. With some its a bad idea they see it as a threat and will beat themselves senseless trying to get at the other fish. That has been my experience though.
I think it would look very cool and would give an awesome illusion of a bigger tank. But I do agree with bbrtmad. It probly would not to a good thing for the fish.
it would be good to experiment but i am keeping malawis and mostly mbuna so with them having an aggressive nature it may be a bad idea, its a pity cause you could probably get a big cheap mirror second hand to use
I once put mirrors in the back two corners of my river tank. This kind of freaked out my clown loaches because all movements were multiplied a few times. It made the tank look too busy. I removed them after the 1 day experiment.
I used to use a vanity mirror on my large tank with this old oscar he was 7or 8 and used to attack sides of my tank that would have a mirror so ijust gave him his own little mirror to go crazy with.
fyi homedepot/lowes/walmart/ikea mirrors are super cheap and can be cut like glass.. put them behind the tank not in it..
ive done it a few times with different tanks.. putting it flat against the tank is annoying to look at.. leaning it back from the tank a bit looks a lot better.. lets you see the fish from the bottom and the fish dont geek out as much..
