So I'm thinking about building a tank for my Oscar. I've searched and searched. But couldn't find anything that related to the ideal tank dimensions for a single Oscar. Anyone have a clue?

I mean the bigger the better, so I would say that a 75 is bare minimum for a full grown oscar. 4 x 18 is the footprint. But honestly go as big as you can.

well height of a 75 gallon is 22 inches, but if you can go taller, go for it. But when your looking at a tank what your gonna wanna look at is the sq. ft of the tank. Meaning the footprint.

I believe height is just as important, I mean I could build a 9 foot long 4 foot wide tank and only make it two inches...

48" x 18" x 24" is a great single Oscar tank, gives you good water volume on a good foot print.

keeping in mind, oscar are tall fish, not just long, they need a tall tank IMHO.

Build? Just buy a 75-90 gallon. You can usually find them for a $1 gallon. It doesn't pay to build a tank until you get into the 300 gallon range.
