Hi all, new to the ray scene, be easy on me please?!
I am in the process of buying a 320 gallon tank, (72x32x32) and have a couple of questions in regards to possibly having a single ray as an inhibitant.
My plan is to consolidate a few tanks and maybe end up with one or two less than i have now. I have a 75 with an albino oscar and some community fish that I will take the oscar out of to put into the 320. Then I have a 125 with 2 more oscars and a featherfinned cat that will also go into the 320. That puts me with 3 Oscar's and a featherfinned cat in the 320, and the 125 will be made into a community tank (mainly amazon). I will be getting rid of the 75 and a 29 also with community fish.
I will be left with 2 fish that are questionable if I wanna put a Ray in the 320, a small 10" Fire Eel, and a 10-12" Black Ghost Knife. I am pretty sure I have seen Oscars with Rays before, but these 2 I am not sure of. One will likely go in the 125 and the other the 320.
Here are my questions:
Black Ghost Knife or Fire Eel for the 320?
What species of Ray is recommended to be housed with the type of fish I will have?
As far as the tank goes, what type of sand(substrate) is most common when housing Rays?
And finally, I need some recommendations on a possible vendor in the Chicago area to purchase a Ray so that I don't have shipping to worry about.
Thank You in advance for advice, I understand that this is possibly gonna be impossible for me to get a Ray, but if it is possible, I definitely wanna try!
