I am currently building a plywood tank. What can I add to it besides my larger Midas cichlid? I have a jaguar cichlid, three tinfoil barbs, two walking catfish, and two iridescent sharks in my growout tank. I was considering adding all of these fish to the new tank, along with the Midas and the jaguar cichlid, while placing the iridescent sharks in the pond. Alternatively, I could add only the tinfoil barbs and the walking catfish to the plywood tank and put the iridescent sharks in the pond. How should I divide the fish to maintain a balanced load on both my 500-gallon pond and my larger tank without any problems?

You've got a couple different threads going for this tank, it sounds like your building a 180 gal tank roughly on the second floor. Have you considered where this is going and the water alone will weigh 1500 lbs roughly, and the materials for the stand and tank itself?

Hello,
I did start a thread about building a plywood tank, originally aiming for 240 gallons, but I’ve since scaled it down to 180 gallons due to limited resources. I’ve already collected the wood for the tank and will be picking up the glass today or tomorrow.

As for the water weight, I’m not too concerned, as the entire building is made of bricks and concrete, which is strong enough to support the load, just like it’s currently supporting my 500-gallon pond.
