Ideal tankmates...

Here's the situation;
40 gallon acrylic
1 Green Spotted Puffer

What are ideal tankmates (long term)? And is 40 good for a green spotted puffer for life?

I'm assuming your talking about Tetraodon nigroviridis??

If you are doing a brackish water setup, I would go with monos, scats, and archerfish. The only problem with that is then that 40 gallon would get a little tight and you would have to upgrade. But the adult size of these puffers is around 6" so you would be fine with him in a 40.

Depending on the salinity, maybe some wrestling halfbeaks would be ok, as they are topwater fish.

Why not a few more puffers? Or is this species territorial.
