My son loves clowns and i need to add something to my little zonatus ( 2inches) tank (75 gal) they will eventuallyove to a 150 next summer. But i keep this tank at 76 is that too cold ?

I don't know what "ideal" is, but mine do fine from 76 up to 84 degrees.

I think it would be okay. That said I would have a hospital tank available to shoot up over 90 incase they get ich. You don't want to subject the zonatus to that.

Hell no ! I do have some spare tanks around.

Ragin you encounter any ossues with keeping th at 76 for long periods of time ?

Depending on what size they are I'd qt with lots of hearty foods. Fatten them up before they go in and you won't have too much trouble, I'd wager.

I've been growing this dozen out for well over a year. They've gone from about 1.5" to over 3" fatties in this time frame in a growout tank that I keep around 76-78F. There is a runt in the group that has only grown maybe a half an inch, but otherwise healthy looking.
