I recently got some small Dats and they are still adjusting. What is a good temperature for them to be at? I was at 81 and then bumped it up to 85 to help them adjust faster. I raised the temp over the course of 3 days but now I'm thinking I shouldn't tinker with it because consistency is mosty important but is 85 ok? I also have rays in there.

rasing up temp is a bad idea Tommy...Dat requir a lot of oxygen so hopefully you have plenty of bubble and air stone running for your dats. it's just take time, diet and envoriment to adjust them. not just temp.

I see, thanks for the input. I should have checked before changing the temp.:duh: I don't have an airstone but I have to hob filters breaking the surface and a wet/dry.

bring it back down to low 80's. All my Dat tanks are set at 82F

Ok, I'll bring it back down. Is my aeration sufficient with HOB filter and wet/dry but no airstone?

I personally would add a couple airstones to be safe, but just watch you Dats. You will be able to tell if they need more oxygen.

I'm not sure what dat's ideal temperature is but let me chime in what I have been doing. I have my datnoid tank at 86-88F. It is literally lukewarm. All the dats are stable except for one NTT. I also have a bottom dweller like hotfishgirls.

For aeration, I have a 36" air tube. I also have a Penguin 350 and a tiny Rio+ 800 that is unfortunately pointed downwards to prevent a dead spot in a corner. The return from the sump also blows in some bubbles once in a while.

I've had two NGT deaths recently which hopefully doesn't tie in to the high temperature. All in all, I've had a pretty good experience with higher temperatures.

I don't want to take any chances so I'll put an airstone in there today.

Tommy the more the better. Dats demand high oxygen.
