Recently acquired a 325 gal custom truvu tank. Included were several items including a TruVu Platinum 300 refugium, Coralife Turbo-Sea 1090 GPH external pump, and Coralife Turbo Twist 12x UV sterilizer. Some other items I have available to use: 2 Fx5s, Kent Maxima Hi-S 60gpd.

Dimensions:
Tank - 84" x 30" x 30"
Overflow (actual used area) - 4.5" x 4.5"
Bottom drain of Overflow - Two 3" hole openings
Hidden wire access behind overflow - 10.25" x 2.25"
Drilled holes on top of tank for powerheads - 1" & 1.5" per corner

The tank will be for housing Silver arowana, Lenticulata Pike, Black Ghost Knife, Congo Tetras, and some clown loaches. Based upon the over height of the tank on the stand and actually reaching in to gravel vac. I want to minimize in tank maintenance as much as possible. So I've been reading on the RUGF and RUGJ systems. Both implement pcv piping systems. So would it be ok to plumb the inlet of the RUG system from the external pump to the pcv or should I modify the Fx5s to work as a dual pump for the RUG? Also with the 3" bulkhead openings what's the better solution for size into the refugium/sump and filtration? The refugium came with two plates on the inlet side. The very top plate has 1" and 2" openings I believe. The second plate was used for two 3" filter socks.

The refugium has also been modified with several openings in the first block plate. The previous owner placed media bags in these openings and allow the water to flow through instead of traveling up to the top. On the output side 3 holes were drilled to accomodate the return pump. The tank was originally SW setup. Any tips/ideas/suggestions welcome.

That should be a fun tank to play around with. :D I'm not sure about putting Congo Tetras with a Solver Aro unless you don't mind them turning into snacks later down the line.

looks like you have a fine start to a SW tank

otherwise... RAYS!!

:D

My biggest concern is eliminating deadspots without too much visible equipment. I can have piping run across the top for spray outlets just beneath the hole openings to push water toward overflow/pick up tubes. The canopy top will conceal everything. Hanging light will be setup. Should I use 1" pvc or will 1/2" flow enough. Also since there are no trays for the refugium should I just stuff as many pot scrubbers or use mixed media. So many options......

My silver is still fairly small for now ;) , I'll probably end up moving the tetras in with my zaire front colony when they get bigger.
