Cool tank. My blue acaras use every inch of height in my 36" tank.
I would hang some decor from the top to maximize your floorspace instead of cluttering the bottom. Fastening some suction cups to driftwood to hang on the back panel could work well too.
I think a big group of congo tetras would be cool in that tank.
Or maybe a group of goldfish. 3 or 4 big orandas or ryukin.
Not goldfish. I have two out door ponds so I could just add some there if I wanted.
But the other idea is intriguing. Some type of hanging driftwood to simulate roots. The Congo’s I have REALLY like hiding under cover so that will give them some security. The butterfly fish are a good idea too, always wanted to do them.
It’ll end up being an amazon/Congo mix. Probably.
I’ll also likely move a gold nugget pleco I have into the tank if he survives. Came in pretty skinny from the lfs.
Synodontis petricollis look fun as well. I’m certain I’m spelling that wrong.
So butterflies for the top among some hanging driftwood and probably a giant tiger lotus.
It’s too deep to realistically light it for anything high tech so it’ll be Anubias and Java fern mostly. Which is honestly a relief after fighting with co2 and trying to carpet a tank full of polypterus who just want to hide under every single piece of Microsword. And then melting $60 worth of Monte Carlo trying to dry start a 30 gallon.
Drift wood and ferns sounds so relaxing.
That’s another thing. I definitely need to keep it simple. I’m already over loading myself.
I’ve always wanted neon red rainbowfish or furcata rainbows though. Their pectoral fins are wild. Would they be a problem with Congo tetra? 7-10 Congo tetra, and maybe 5 of each rainbow, then one or two butterfly fish up top and some type of catfish at the bottom?
Is that too much?
