bellevue, ne
im new to the salt water world. and recently purchased a 30 gallon sw tank. it came with a false clown and i just got a coral beauty angel. i would like to get an anemome for the clown.

im running a ac 50 filter and just got a protien skimmer rated for 70 gal.

i know its alot of personal opinion on what looks best in a tank but i would love to hear some suggestions.

Since this is your first tank, I would not get an anenome. Besides, the clowns will do just fine without one.

You're kinda resticted with what you can do fish wise in a 30. I am faced with the same dillema. I went with a pair of clowns, a cleaner shrimp, 3 blue legged crabs and 4 turbo snails.

You can have the best setup in the world, it's still hard finding fish that can be housed long term in a 30. I wasn't questioning your setup or your research.

im doing as much research as i can.
I would defiantley get an anenome i have a long tentaccle that my percula loves. It took 6 weeks before he went to it though. If you have the right light and spot feed once in awhile youll be fine and if not how else are you going to learn.STAY AWAY from a carpet in that size tank or the other fish will become food.good luck!

for a thirty gallon you could go with some inverts like hermit crabs or urchins or shrimp. small gobies are also an option as is a dwarf lion, a small damsel, chromis, dottyback, small hawkfish (flame). things of that nature. the lion and hawk wont require tons of room since they like to perch on the rock and structure and dont swim tons. damsels and dottybacks can fight with otherfish, especailly conspecifics so watch out for that. i would say, look for something you like, and ask if it can live its entire life in a 30gallon with the others you have, if so, go for it. dont overstock, as tempting as that is, for a thirty, four or five small fish should be your limit...
