Ideas for home-made filter media

Hi guys. I have 2 Aquaclear HOB filters, a 30 & a 70. I was thinking about making my own carbon filters to save money. Any suggestions on what material to use to contain the carbon? I was thinking about using cheap women's nylon pantyhose, because I thought it would be reusable to a degree, but not sure about anything leeching out and harming my fish. I made one already from filter pads I bought, because it was sort of an emergency, and it works fine but I was looking for some other ideas so any are appreciated. Thanks!

Pantyhose is what I have used for 20+ years. Your on the right track, just rinse well with each cleaning of the filter.

Thanks! I figured it was just nylon so what harm could it do? I guessed I could get 10+ bags out of a pair of pantyhose, depending on the size. My wife doesn't wear that stuff but I may have her go buy it for me anyway, LOL!
