So i have rebuilt my plumbing system for my small ray grow out tank. but an issue that i face right now is that the noise of the splashing of water coming from the sump as it hits the drip tray of my wet/dry sump is extremely loud. is there anyway i can fix this without decreasing my flow?

Return pump is 1585 gph
Overflow is 2x 1.5inch bulkheads (durso style)

You'll never get it totally silent, it's the nature of the beast, flowing water gurgles and splashes. However, you can minimise the noise as others have said. I use very coarse sponges directly underneath where the water gushes out. Underneath the coarse sponges are finer ones and filter floss is underneath these. The top layers of coarse sponges are not only the first part of my mechanical but they also seem to diffuse the gurgling and splashing making it very quiet. Without them there's a right racket. Just little tweaks here and there can work a treat, play around and see what works for you.
