I am still in the process of fixating on a plan for my 120gl. There is no huge rush to get it up and running, my fish are okay in the 55gl but it is something I want to complete this coming fall or winter. I have a lot of questions on what you all think.

I want to know what has worked well for those with larger tanks.

I am going to try and do as much of the building of it as I can, with some help from my ex boyfriend that is nice enough to help a lady out around the house still :)

Any pictures of tanks that are a room divider? Below is a picture of the area it is going to be. I posted before on the area and decided to rip out what is there and rebuild it just the way I want it.

1) What is a good height to place it? I am thinking the higher the better it will look, but I am sure it would be harder to get to at cleaning. I do have a step ladder though. I am 5'11" , the tank is 2' deep. I am thinking around 4-5ft off the floor.

2) Above the tank, leave it open or built that in as well? Build doors to lift up to get to the top of the tank. I dont have covers for the tank right now either. I guess I could build it to the ceiling and install my own lights as well and do it that way instead of buying the cover and lights. Thoughts?

3) I plan to use canister filter(s) and have them on the side of the tank to the wall and run the plumbing down the side into the lower part of the stand. Power head to keep water moving, bare bottom, etc, sound solid or go with a different system?

4) How will I know it is sturdy enough for the tank? Any building plans anywhere or a rule of thumb on basic design?

The area to the right of the current 55gl tank. The part wall above it is only I dunno about 4" wide so if I enclose it, I would just have to build on that one side.
