Mine is 5-6" and he never goes into my hang on back filter. I guess I am lucky cause it sounds like a pain in the ass to keep saving them. TT eels have such personality. They are so curious all the time.
ideas on how to stop this? Eel in filter....

Hey guess im just looking for some help i have about a 9 inch fire and i have a marine land filter it hangs on the back of the tank and my eel keeps going into it by the front from where the water comes out at do you have any ideas to stop this i dont want him getting up in there and hurt from it since there is a fan that suchs in water that could hurt him. Please help??
If your eel swims up your pipe that water flows out of into the tank...
Here is a cheap simple trick
You'll need:
* 1stocking
*small elastic bands
*scissors
Instructions:
Cut a small piece of stocking that goes over the pipe to cover on the outside and hold it in place with an elastic band. It allows water to flow out and keep eels out.
You may need to change it when needed.
It is a good temporary solution.
No harm should be caused from using a fabric, my eels have been doing well for months with that over the pipe.

Cant have a tank with overflows with a eel. They just go where ever they want. They need a very particular setup
