Any ideas on what to stock a 150 gallon tank with. I wanted to get a Jag and Midas and then put some silver dollars in it with them but was told that a 150 isn't big enough. So any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Hello,
Plenty of options for a 150g. You could do your Midas cichlid and silver dollars, and do a small shoal of convict cichlids, for one idea. The Midas would be okay in a 150, the Jaguars eventually get huge which would be an issue. There are other parachromis species that would work however, such as loisellei or friedrichsthalli.
Two cichlids is not a great number, the larger one tends to beat up the smaller one. I would recommend if you want to do a community of CA/SA cichlids, which is possible in a 150, that you carefully pick your species and buy them young so they can grow up together. If you do a community, it is hard to say which fish will and will not work together, as they are all individuals. A decent formula would be

1 Large "king" fish (12"+, midas, loisellei, etc)
4-6 smaller cichlids (6"ish, convicts etc)
6 dithers (silver dollars)
Pleco/catfish

You can tweak it a bit but that is a cookie cutter that has a good chance of working long term. This would be stocked on the heavier side when the fish are adults, so keep in mind large weekly water changes and good filtration will be necessary.

Go Malawi. It is somuch less complicated and you can get so many more and so much more diverse cichlids.
Dmidiochromis Compressiceps, Borleyi, nlmbochromis linni... You can get 10 completely different cichlids in a 150

I have a 150g and stock with more peaceful CAs that like to be a little crowded like thorichthys meeki, and pasionis. They live in groups in the wild and seem to do better when a little crowded in an aquarium. They will fight, but no damage.
But a loisellei pair would be nice. They max out at 12" so a better species for a 150g IMO. Plus they are much more colorful.

Awesome!! Thank you for the advice. It's greatly appreciated.
Consider this option
X1 Pair of Black Diamond cichlids (paratilapia polleni) get 11-13 inches, rare and stunning
X6 redhook silver dollars, Widebar silver dollars or normal silver dollars
X1 green/blue phantom pleco
Then smaller cichlids
X1 nicarguensis cichlid 9 inches (very colourful)
X2 ellioti cichlids 4-5inches (rare version of firemouths)
X2 rainbow cichlids 4-5inches
X1 pike characin for the upper levels
