Ok. So I'm back to square one due to fish sickness. I'm going to stock down to only the syno and my raph. I have a few Ideas of what I think I want to do:

1. 3-4 EBAs

2. 3-5 Angelfish

3. 1 Severum

4. Hap and Peacock Mix

5. Mbunas (yellow labs)

6. Convicts

7. 1 Blood Parrot

8. Bichir Tank with some top dwellers

9. Rope fish tank

10. Tetra and Livebearer tank

And this is also another idea...maybe kinda weird...but I could divide my tank into sections (literally) and create a different biotope for each one. It might be too much, but its just an idea.

Howdy

Great to hear your getting back up, not getting defeated by disaster. Dust off, re-engage! Making plans is the fun first step!

Excuse my ignorance, have you tried plants? If not, then that might be a nice change in how you approach the hobby.

I have tried plants, some did thrive, but most failed. I may do plants again.

Are these cichlids, all for the same tank?
Severums, and angels prefer soft, neutral pH water.
All the Haps, mbuna, and convicts prefer hard high pH water
Combining them is not really a great idea.
So finding out your tap water parameters, then acquiring the right species for your water seems more reasonable if you want a healthy tank.

Lord no, I would never mix all of these together in the same tank. I would first need a tank well over 1000 gallons and like you said, water parameter wise It wouldn't work.

I would choose one or two of the ideas and mix them or just go through with them.

You could do an African tank and there are other mbuna that should do ok with peacocks other than yellow labs. But with your sized tank I think most haps are out and you need to decide if you’d want to do a breeding group or an overstocked mostly peacock and couple mbuna tank or a straight mbuna tank or straight peacock tank
Don’t forget about tangs and Vics too
If you decide to go this route and decide how you want to go about it, then we can get into the fine tuning

just no angels and BPs lol
