  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I’m pretty sure the blue one with vertical stripes is a kenyi male and the yellow one at the left top side is a yellow lab I think.

Yellow w/ black at the top left could be a yellow lab. Bright orange a red zebra. White w/ red eyes maybe be ps. Socolofi. Yellow with black vertical bars is ps. Crabro, aka bumblebee. Purple with verital bars is a kenyi, juvi or female coloration. Very top right is melanochromis auratus, very nasty fish. The yellowish w/ black bars is Astatotilapia latifasciata from lake Victoria. The black/blue horizontal striped is either a johannii or cyaneorhabdos or a mix of the two.

Looks like a typical "mixed" tank at any petstore.

Awesome thanks so much... seems like they all stay around the 5” mark except the bumblebee ? What would be an appropriate tank size for all of these fish ?

A 75 would be needed for the most aggressive, the auratus, bumblebee, zebra, and johanii. The labs and Astatotilapia can live comfortably in a standard 55 gallon. They can pretty much all breed with each other, being mouthbrooders from lake Malawi. It would be frowned upon by must, since the fry would all be mutts.

…….. and buying from a mixed tank at the LFS, some may already be mutts. Sorry to be Debbie Downer, but this is a classic example of how not to start an African cichlid tank.
