Identification help... Red backed scraper?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The original "Red backed Scraper" Enterochromis sp. may have been a 1 time import, many years ago, and since the proliferation of the Nile Perch is "assumed" to now be extinct in Lake Victoria.
And since many have hybridized over the years in aquariums, finding a positive ID for a simple photo may be nearly impossible.
Since almost all Lake Victoria Haplachromine females look very much alike, accidental hybridization would be likely unless someone held onto a remnant of the 1st importation and kept it isolated.

Interesting ... don't know anything about Africans ... getting to like them more

Xmas fulu would be a more reasonable assumption, because they are widely available.
I have only kept 2 Victorians, the Xmas fulu (Xystichromis phytophagus), and the mtumbe hunter, and it does resemble a young fulu..

Nice .. his colour is improving quickly ... between that and the aulonocara I'm definitely becoming a fan of Africans ... very energetic and cool to watch
