Hi folks, I bought a group of cichlids from a hobbyist. They were sold to me as Protomelas spilonotus (Mara Rocks). I have a pair from someone else and these ones do NOT look anything like the one i have now that they have grown up. Can someone with some knowledge of these possibly give me more information on them and how they should look before fully grown? These ones currently seem to have a white blaze and not yellow...

If you think you know the name of this fish i'm totally open to suggestions. I just hope it's not a cross breed.

thank-you for any help or suggestions....

Deffinately not a full blood fossy. Nowhere near elongated enough, head structure is too short. Also fossys are spotted not striped as you can see in the video. The pattern in the top fish does nto even com eclose to my fossy's pattern. The ONLY characteristic that says fossy is the color in its head.

actually, they're not spotted-they are broken vertical bars which sometimes look solid.I would also say that each individual fish is going to be slightly different.this one may be a little thicker.also the first pic doesn't show the whole fish and the last two are angled shots.Angle shots make the fish look shorter and thicker.

Everyone.. thanks for your thoughts so far,,,, the person never did have any rostratus, and plus.. I had a huge group of my own and while there is some similarities,, the body structure is really different.. going to ad some more pics for visual....
hope it will help...
thanks all
