Identify fish caught in Ohio river

Caught this fish some time back and never really questioned it. I caught it in the Ohio river on northern Kentucky side. It measured about 8 inches and we let it go.

I was afraid that you would say that...it kind of looks like a trout.

Skipjack or goldeye would be my gess hard to tell with out a better pic. could look thought here and see if anything looks right. http://www.fallsoftheohio.org/OhioRiverFishList.html

Looks like either a Mooneye or Goldeye.

Looks like either a Mooneye or Goldeye.

Looks like it's a goldeye shad. I've never encountered them before in my fishing spot. Mainly catch channel and blue cats and gar.
