Hi all. I wondering what other peoples opinions are of my dogs breed. Her name is bailey and she's 10 years old. I've had her her entire life and she was a surprise for me from my parents. My parents said the place they got her from told them she was a collie lab mix but I'm not sure. They said border collie was one type and maybe miniature. Anyway, my gf is a vet tech and was curious about baileys breed also. We got a DNA test where you swab the cheek and send it in the mail to be evaluated. The results came back and said she was a Shetland shepherd, miniature poodle, and West highland white terrier mix. We both disagree with those results except maybe the Shetland shepherd. Here's some info on bailey: she's 35 lbs, bout 18 inches (I have to measure), strong prey drive, huge ears, always alert with her eyes, makes the same noises as a regular collie, sometimes when she stands she looks like she's pointing. What do you think she could be a mix of??

Sheltie and westie would have a strong prey drive and it very possible she could poodle somewhere in her as well. She more than likely is a Sheltie mixed with more than just westie and poodle. A collie lab mix should weigh a lot more than 35 pounds

Looking at her again I'd say Corgi and Sheltie is plausible possibility but with a mixed breed you can really never know

Thanks for the replies! Here's some more info. The one pic has 5 other possibilities but they're below the "threshold" detection range.

She loves to run too. I use to run xc so I'm no slouch, she led the entire run which lasted 30 mins.

Take those test with a grain of salt. A former coworker of mine had her pit mix tested and came back, pit, boxer and chihuahua. Did he have Chihuahua in his ancestory probably but eyeballing him you wouldn't have thought so. Mutt on mutt on mutt is what some dogs are so they probably do have these breeds on them they just don't show visually or behaviorally for that matter.
