Identify please

So I got this little guy at Petco, which they said was a convict. After buying him I got home and looked up convicts and he doesn’t look anything like a convict.
Thoughts?

Looks like a female (or immature) Haplochromine to me (African), could be a peacock ( maybe Aulonocara)
Are you surprised that someone at Petco doesn't have a clue??????

Agree with Duane that is a African Cichlid and yes possibly an Aulonocara Peacock species.

This could be a Convict too as the bars you see are similar to Convict too or it could be a Demasoni cichlid

Definitely not convict or demosi. Like everyone said, it’s a female hap or peacock...unfortunately, females mostly look alike so you won’t know exactly which one.

I'd place my bets on it being a immature/female eureka red peacock, since knowing petco they only tend to get so few different species of peacocks in their assorted peacock shipments, and that fish probably jumped into the convict tank.
