I think it's acipenser ruthenus ( sterlet). A species of sturgeon

+1 what joel said. This is a smaller species that reaches about 4 ft in length.

If there is an Acipenser that doesn't grow to absurd sizes I will literally throw all my future money at it (when I have said money)

Unfortunately, no. Those US LFS common sturgeon are the Pacific White Sturgeon. Aka, the largest fish in the USA. These beauties can reach more than 3/4s of a ton and 20ft in length. What we (in the US) buy are the overages from gov't-sponsored hatcheries that become available after all gov't stocking requirements have been fulfilled.

Another common species in US LFS is the diamond sturgeon from the Danube. This species can reach a bit over 90" and weigh around 250lbs.

Wow...I haven't seen many of them around in this area,not like I used to and that might not be a bad thing.
