I was told these were dovii but I'm not too sure, got them for a great price so I figured I would take a chance, let me know what you think.

The first picture is the biggest about 3 inches the rest are around 1.5-2, also ignore the danio in the middle of the second picture

Yes looks like a Dovii in the second pic.

Some closer, clearer shots would help, but my first impression was also that they may be only part dovii, because on the 2nd pic the mouth and profile shape doesn't look right right.
Here are some young dovii, about the same size.

The above were from a bag of 10 at the Milwaukee aquarium club auction I picked up for a buck or 2.

Some updated pictures, they seem to be a mix of species, the biggest one is growing twice as fast as the rest. They dont look like dovii to me any ideas

No idea what they are but sort of cool looking. They have traits of so many different cichlids I don't think you will ever figure it out. They have characteristics of JD and salvini and Texas to me.
Keep the updates coming as it will be cool to see them develop.

Again, I edited you photo to get a better look, and as Ogretron 3000 said, they look like a combination of cichlids, hybrids, not pure dovii, body shape, mouth shape etc etc all say generic mutt. This is a perfect examples of why I rail on amateur hybrid creators

I'm looking forward to how they grow, the biggest one is one nasty fish, he bosses around a dempsey pair twice his size. I'll definitely post an update in a few months

Definitely not doviis. They usually have a solid line going across the body and are longer in body length. I'm also guessing hybrid of some sort.
