I am having trouble identifying orino vs monos. Any guess what these are? I have both species and they look so much I can't even tell.. LMK what you think..
Those are Monos.. the only reason I say that is because they were bought as Monos, and are in a different tank.. Now these I bought as Orinos.. and THEY LOOK SO MUCH A LIKE. The spotting on the fin and everything.. Tell me what you think.. are these monos too?
Here's how I based my assumptions in regards to your first post.
When I've had baby Orino's in the past the way I was able to tell is by the gold spangles around the spots. Even at such a small size they had them. In addition, the line on the tail did not extend all the way through. Also, at the time many were saying the ones I was selling were Mono's, well only if I took a bet I'd have a wad of cash because they all grew to be Orino's..haha
The link below were the Orino's I sold a couple years back.
Again, I'm basing this on what I've had in the past and what I've seen. It will basically come down to the source you got it from. Give it sometime and see how they develop. If they were advertised as Orino's and turn out to be Mono's you should get your money back.
Wow, those two look totally different. I guess its just going to be a waiting game and we'll see what these turn out to be. haha. Thanks for all your help Joey.

Yes, that is why the waiting is the fun part. You just never know what they will develop into.
If your source is a reliable one and they say it's Orino's, give them the benefit of the doubt. After all it's only their credibility on the line.
This is what I go by. If I ask what species they are they need to provide me collection points and how reliable their source is. If they tell me, "Well that is what was on the list and I ordered them and was invoiced as them". Then I have second thoughts if I want to buy.
All the Pbass I have (exception of the Gold Orino) I knew exactly who they came from and source.
first pics may be orinos because the way the blue is developing in the tail the second set of pics look like monos to me but they have small tails which is a characteristic of orinos.. honeslty bradda its hard to tell i.d. at small sizes in pictures
