I have a tiny thin white type of algae(i think algae)no slime or cloud just individual hairs that at its end has like a little ball with a bunch of little hairs it looks just like the flowers called Hawksbeard or what alot of people call dandelions.....any help would be great if yous know what this is....its in a freshwater aquarium growing on Malaysian driftwood....
Thanks guys! By the way this is my 1st post on ANY forum so if im doing it wrong im sorry,im new to computers i dont even have facebook

I think I know what you're talking about. Is it new driftwood? Does it look nasty dirty white? You'll want to take the driftwood out and either pressure wash it or scrub it with a brush. You may need to do this a couple times over about a month. I had this and it went away after about that much time.

Very common to get a white fungus or mold on new driftwood. It usually is harmless and will disappear in a couple of weeks.
No its a piece that was in a friends aquarium for months i need to do 5 post then i can post a picture i was told

First off welcome!

Secondly it sounds like a nasty fungus. Another member here is having a related issue.

Presure wash sounds perfect!
