Hey everyone, I just had my LFS order what i was told is a red tailed giant, but im a little skeptical after getting the fish.
Either way I'm going to keep the little guy, hes very pretty.

The problem is hes about 1-1.5 inches, and ive never saw a giant that size (or at all to be completely honest)

Ill try to get a picture tomorrow because hes very skittish and pretty much burys himself in all the plants i have in the tank.

The things that make him stand out from other gouramis ive had are his nose appears to be more rounded, he seems to have some big eyes (that are orange and yellow), he seems thicker than a normal gourami (hes more robust than the dwarf in the tank with him) he is primarily grey but has some light blue spots on him, his feelers are redish orange as are the tips of his fins, which also have a bit of blue on them. Ive never really saw a gourami that was this skittish, which makes me feel like hes really young instead of just small, Right now hes in my small tank with a baby leapord ctenopoma and a honey dwarf gourami, both of which are larger than he is.

So what im wanting to know is what are some telltale signs to look for to make sure i got a real Osphronemus and not just a banded gourami that everyone wrongly calls a giant for some reason.

Thanks for any help!
I did search but didnt really find exactly what i was looking for, if theres a thread that answers my questions Id appreciate a link greatly.

Yeah, im working on that, The shop got him in today, as well as me picking him up, so id say hes kinda scared, because he is really set on not coming out from my aquatic bushes

You dont have to tell me how bad the pictures are, my droid razr is being replaced so i have some kind of ghetto loaner phone.

Your fish is an adult gourami, not a baby giant gourami.

Ill find and post the pics of baby redtail giant gourami for your ref:

Baby redtail giant gourami size about 5cm: hard to see the redtail
