I am trying to get some yellow lab, cobalt blue, or Pseudotropheus Acei Mbuna. I am confused with all the LFS labeling them as "Assorted Cichlids"

Are the following pictures Yellow Lab, cobalt blue Pseudotropheus Acei Mbuna? or are they peacocks?

I wouldnt buy from an assorted tank. The fish are usually hybrids. These are pretty common species so any online dealer should have them.
I've seen them at petsmart.. Would that be pure and not a hybrid?

Pet store cichlids are typically spawned in ponds in Florida where hybridation runs rampant. Unless it's a specialty pet store that buys from breeders or reliable sources I wouldn't touch the fish with a 10 foot pole.

Tank one acei.
Tank 2 dragons blood mbuna x peacock hybrid
Tank 3 mostly mbuna
Tank 4 mostly mbuna.
Peacocks, will be similar to a crappie, or bluegill, stocky

Mbuna, will be longer more like a largemouth bass.

Tank 1
Yellow lab, albino something and unknown
Tank 2
More of the same
Tank 3
P saulosi, green tiger barb
Tank 4
P saulosi, melanochromis auratus, yellow lab, green tiger barb.
All are mbuna except the barbs. All are probably hybrid. Peacocks have higher narrower bodies, swim further from the rocks and fight less. It depends on what you want. Hybrid may or may not be a bad thing. Look into it and make your own decision.
