Hi guys,
Could someone help me identify what sex my piranha are, they are nearly a year old now and hoping they might breed at some point but struggling to tell which are males and females. I have loads of videos but not many pictures, I will try get some more pictures with the main light on tomorrow. I have 6 in total, I keep finding little yellow what look like eggs on the bottom of tank but only 1-5 per week so not to sure they are eggs. Any help much appreciated. Thanks

Doesn’t look like an egg.
From what I know, RBPs are almost impossible to sex. With that said, females tend to be fatter than the males. Only way to tell for sure is watching them breed though.
More experienced keepers could probably chime in.

They keep appearing in the tank 4-5 a week, could be something from the live plants.
A couple are slightly skinnier than the others that’s my only guess so far.
thanks for the reply

I know they shed teeth, but those don’t look like teeth. It could be plant seeds (congrats on keeping live plants with piranhas, mine destroyed my plastic ones :wall:) or leftovers from feedings.

plants grow really well with mine, I have had them in there since day one, they do sometimes rip small parts off them but never much. Re leftover food, they only eat trout that I have caught gutted and frozen into cubes so don’t think it would be anything from the food leaving the tiny egg looking things ?‍♂️

That is a beautiful setup.
