If I raise an LED light off the water...

If I raise an LED light off the water will it have better coverage of the tank?

I am looking at the Marineland double bright 36-48. My tank is 48 wide. I don't want the dark edges at the top of the tank.

I am also looking at the AquaTraders light. It is less powerful. and apparently has a narrow focus of light. Same question for this light as well.

Yeah, that's the basic principle. Raise the light, widen the angle of the light spread.
